ChatGPT vs Grok vs Meta Muse: Which AI Is Worth Paying For in Your Small Business?

ChatGPT vs Grok vs Meta Muse: Which AI Is Worth Paying For in Your Small Business?

Three AI products are competing for a spot in your monthly budget: OpenAI's ChatGPT Business, xAI's Grok Business, and Meta's Muse for Small Business. They look similar from a distance, but they are built for different jobs. Pick the wrong one and you either overpay or hand an AI agent access to systems it does not need.

    Quick Verdict

    • Best for most teams that want a general assistant: ChatGPT Business. It is the cheapest paid seat of the three, and its usage and data terms are the easiest to understand.
    • Best for teams already living in Google Drive who want document-grounded answers: Grok Business, but only if you value its Drive connection and source citations enough to pay about 50% more per seat.
    • Best for a retailer or service shop that wants an agent to handle marketing and operations tasks across Shopify, Stripe, QuickBooks and similar tools: Meta Muse, but start on the free tier with read-only access and keep approvals switched on.

These are not identical products, so the comparison below is by use case rather than a single score. Pricing and features change often, so confirm current figures on each vendor's page before you buy.

    What Each Tool Actually Is

    ChatGPT Business

ChatGPT Business (formerly the Team plan) is OpenAI's self-serve paid workspace. Per a pricing breakdown that checked prices on September 11, 2026, each seat includes ChatGPT, ChatGPT Work, and Codex, with usage limits and optional paid credits to extend them. It includes admin controls and SAML single sign-on, and company data is not used for training by default.

    Grok Business

xAI launched Grok Business and Grok Enterprise in early January 2026. Grok Business is aimed at small and mid-sized teams, with self-serve sign-up, team management, consolidated billing, usage analytics, and a connection to Google Drive. Responses can cite source documents with quote previews. xAI says customer data is not used to train its models and that the business tiers run on infrastructure separate from the public version of Grok on X.

    Meta Muse for Small Business

Meta launched Muse for Small Business on September 29, 2026. Unlike the other two, it is positioned as an agent that connects to the tools you already use and helps with sales, operations and marketing. Launch integrations include Shopify, Stripe, Intuit QuickBooks, Canva, Figma, Slack, Zoom, Notion, Asana, Box, Dropbox, HighLevel and Klaviyo, and it can read analytics from Instagram business accounts and Facebook Pages and connect to Meta ad accounts. Per reporting, it asks for the owner's approval before it posts content, sends messages or makes purchases.

    Pricing Compared

    ToolPriceMinimumNotes
ChatGPT Business (Standard)$20 per user per month billed annually, or $25 billed monthly2 seatsA Premium seat is $100 annually or $125 monthly, with 5x Standard usage
Grok Business$30 per user per monthNot stated in sources reviewedEnterprise pricing is not public
Meta MuseFree tier with usage limitsNone statedPremium plans exist; pricing was not stated in the reporting we reviewed

Using the annual figures from the same pricing comparison, a team of 5 pays about $1,200 a year for ChatGPT Business versus at least $1,800 for Grok. At 10 seats that is $2,400 versus at least $3,600, and at 25 seats it is $6,000 versus at least $9,000. A solo owner on ChatGPT Business still pays for two seats, roughly $480 a year on annual billing.

Muse is the budget wildcard. The free tier costs nothing, which makes it the safest way to test an agent, but you cannot budget for the premium tier until Meta publishes its price.

    What Each One Does Autonomously

This is where the three diverge most.

    • Meta Muse is the most agent-like. It is designed to learn what you sell, your brand voice and common customer questions, then draft posts, summarize customer questions and prepare first drafts of product descriptions or email campaigns. Its approval step is the safeguard that keeps you in the loop.
    • ChatGPT Business is the most flexible assistant. It does what you ask in a chat workspace, from writing to analysis to coding help. The pricing source we reviewed did not describe agent or connector features in detail, so check OpenAI's current documentation if hands-off task execution is your goal.
    • Grok Business is document-focused. Its strength is working across your files, with permission-aware access. xAI says that if a file is not shared with you in Drive, you will not see it in Grok. Early coverage did not mention agent features for the Business tier.

What Each One Can't Do (Or You Should Check First)

    ChatGPT Business

    • It does not offer a Business Associate Agreement, so it is not HIPAA-eligible. Health-related businesses should look at Enterprise or another vendor.
    • Business workspace members cannot export their own data, and data residency is partial, covering content at rest rather than processing.
    • Self-serve Business is card-only. Invoicing, purchase orders and net terms require a contracted plan.
    • Usage is limited per five-hour window, and the same comparison notes weekly limits may apply.

    Grok Business

    • At launch, analysts said it lacked deep integrations with Slack and Microsoft 365. If your team works there, test carefully.
    • Usage is harder to plan around. A comparison site notes that Grok publishes tiers only as multiples of a base plan and does not state a base number.
    • Invoice billing, SCIM and audit logs are Enterprise-only.
    • The launch came amid public criticism and regulatory scrutiny over the public Grok on X. xAI says the business tiers are separate, but some owners will weigh brand risk.

    Meta Muse

    • It is brand new, and some reporting raises unverified concerns. The Next Web reported that Amazon removed Muse from its app store over allegations that it failed to identify itself and appeared to store login credentials; Meta denies this. A separate report says a user claimed Muse shared his address with a Marketplace buyer. These are allegations, not established findings.
    • Connecting payment and accounting tools gives an agent access to sensitive financial, payroll and customer data.
    • Premium pricing is not yet clear.

    Who Each Tool Is For

    Choose ChatGPT Business if

You want a dependable AI assistant for a small team, you care about predictable per-seat cost, and you do not handle regulated health data. It wins on price and clarity. For a team of two to ten people doing writing, research, customer email drafts and spreadsheet help, it is the default pick.

    Choose Grok Business if

Your work revolves around documents in Google Drive, such as contracts, proposals, financial models or reports, and you want answers that point back to the source passage. It is also reasonable if your team already uses xAI tools. Test it on your own files first, because no vendor has published a head-to-head quality comparison and the price is higher.

    Choose Meta Muse if

You sell through Shopify or Meta platforms, you already use Stripe or QuickBooks, and your biggest bottleneck is the repetitive marketing and customer-question work that eats your day. It is the only one of the three built to act on your tools, so it carries the most upside and the most risk.

    How to Test Safely

    1. Start free. Use Muse's free tier or each vendor's free chat before committing a card.
    2. Begin read-only. Connect public page analytics before payment or accounting tools.
    3. Limit access. Restrict QuickBooks to specific reports, and keep operating funds in a separate business bank account from anything an agent can touch.
    4. Keep approvals on. Review every customer message an agent drafts, and use human review for money, legal and customer-relationship decisions.
    5. Know how to revoke. Learn where to cut access in each connected app before you connect it.
    6. Ask your insurer. Check whether your business insurance covers mistakes made by software.
    7. Check privacy rules. If customer data flows into any tool, review your privacy policy and your state's privacy law, since some states have low customer-count thresholds.

    The Bottom Line

If you can only pick one paid tool today, pick ChatGPT Business. It costs the least, its limits are clearer, and it does not require you to give software the keys to your store or books. Add Grok Business only if document-grounded answers inside Google Drive are central to your work. Try Meta Muse on its free tier, with read-only access and approvals on, if you want to see whether an agent can take real marketing and operations work off your plate. Reassess in a few months, because all three products are changing fast.
